DFG LAW, APC
Criminal Defense
Pro Bono Program
DFG LAW, APC offers pro bono criminal defense representation to select individuals who cannot afford private counsel. The program has limited resources, and we accept very few cases. We consider financial need, the circumstances of each case, and our availability when reviewing requests.
About the program
Pro bono representation means that we do not charge attorney fees for the services we agree to provide through this program. Any case expenses and the scope of our representation will be addressed before we agree to take a case.
Our ability to accept a matter depends on financial need, the nature and stage of the case, potential conflicts of interest, and the time and resources required. Not every request can be accepted, even when the need is significant.
PROGRAM INQUIRIES
Request consideration
Email defense@dfglawyers.com with the subject line Pro Bono Criminal Defense Inquiry. You may write in English or Spanish.
Please include only the following initial information:
- Your name, telephone number, and preferred language.
- The county and court handling the matter, and the case number if known.
- The general charge or type of case and your next court date.
- Whether you currently have a public defender or another attorney.
- A brief explanation of why you are seeking pro bono assistance.
Please do not send a detailed account of the alleged incident, confidential documents, or sensitive financial records with your initial inquiry. We will request additional information if appropriate after an initial review and conflict check.
What happens next?
We review the initial information to determine whether we can consider the matter further. If so, we may contact you for additional information or to discuss next steps. A request for more information does not mean that your case has been accepted.
If you already have an attorney
Let us know in your inquiry. Continue working with your current attorney while your request is being considered.
If a court date or deadline is approaching
Do not wait for a response from this program to address an upcoming court date or deadline. An inquiry does not change your court obligations, and this email address is not an emergency service.
